Performance

When it comes to fun ways to travel, Ford offers many choices. Two color options are the 2018 Ford Fiesta and the 2018 Ford Focus. In fact, with these two in play, shoppers can choose from sixteen styles and many colors.

1.6-L TI-VCT I-4 engines power Ford Fiesta models. These produce an excellent flow of power to take care of your daily commutes and long-distance travel. Excellent fuel economy helps you keep costs low. Shoppers choose between a five-speed manual transmission and Ford PowerShift six-speed automatic with SelectShift. Torque Vectoring Control makes it safer to take curves at highway speeds.

Focus models offer higher output from their technologically advanced engines. Yet these machines can earn 25/34 mpg in city/highway driving with the 2.0-L Ti-VCT I-4. The 1-L Ecoboost earns 30/40 mpg (SE). Active Grille Shutters contribute to the car's aerodynamic flow. Ford uses an exclusive Control Blade independent rear suspension to assist with handling.

Appearance

With its short hood slanted down slightly, the Fiesta wears a classic Ford upper grille with chrome bars and chrome surround as well as a lower black grille. With the slash-like headlights traveling up the two sides of the hood, there's an almost face-like appearance. Halogen headlamps wear black-surround bezels, or shoppers can choose Quad-Beam halogen reflector headlamps with black bezels and chrome accents. The Fiesta comes in three trims and two body styles, sedan, and hatchback. Although it isn't fancy, the cabin does have some fun design elements such as soft-touch door trim and the Ice Blue Ambient Lighting. Drivers are served by a left-hand footrest, a cell phone holder, and a multi-function LCD screen.

The bigger Focus has a longer hood, but it wears the same grille. The rocker moldings and mirrors are in black. Side mirrors may contain integrated blind spot mirrors, and there may be a keyless entry pad for quick access. Titanium models wear LED Signature Lighting. The headlamps and fog lamps adopt a chrome bezel. While the Fiesta has few upscale offerings, the Focus offers a leather-trimmed Titanium edition. It has heated front seats and power-adjustable front seats. The 60/40 split seat has a flip-up cushion. The car is offered in four sedan styles and six hatch editions.

Features

Both cars offer Sync with AppLink and the more advanced Sync 3 with a touchscreen. The Fiesta comes with top safety equipment, just as you'd expect from a modern car. There are seven airbags, including a knee bag for the driver. Inside the doors, special safety beams seek to stop the impact from entering the cabin from the side. The SOS Post-Crash Alert System helps alert others to the car's presence.

Stepping up to the Focus, the car has a smart-charging USB port, steering-wheel-mounted controls, and speed-sensitive volume control. The Sync 3 touchscreen adds Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Every Focus has seven airbags and Ford's electronic traction system. The car also has a rearview camera and offers a reverse sensing system to make parking easier. Drivers will appreciate the Active Park Assist available on the Titanium. Shoppers may also choose the lane departure system and the blind zone monitor, helping to eliminate common causes of auto accidents.
