This morning, Ford Motor Company issued a press release announcing that it is extending its Special Service Vehicle package to the 2016 F-150. The new addition allows Ford to better meet the different needs of its variety of law enforcement customers.

The F-150 Special Service Vehicle is highly configurable, allowing customers to pick what best meets their requirements. It comes in XL trim for either the F-150 SuperCrew or SuperCab configuration. Customers can select a 4x4 or 4x2 drivetrain, and either a 5.0-liter V-8 or a high-torque 3.5-liter EcoBoost® engine. Available vinyl seats make for easier cleanup, and a high-output 240-amp alternator replaces the stock unit to accommodate for extended idle times.

“We offer a whole family of police vehicles,” said Arie Groeneveld, Ford chief program engineer for police vehicles. “Our lineup aims to fulfill the unique needs of law enforcement officers, and our F-150 Special Service Vehicle is an extension of that offering. This vehicle definitely lives up to its Built Ford Tough reputation.”
