The incoming 2017 Ford F-150 is offering enhanced fuel economy thanks to the addition of a new 10-speed automatic transmission and EcoBoost V6 engine. Both components work together to deliver exceptional performance and greater fuel economy ratings, making the F-150 one of the most ideal pickup trucks on the market.

As the only truck in its segment to come with a turbocharged gas engine, the F-150 has a lot to prove. The second-generation 3.5L EcoBoost outfitted on the new model rises to the occasion, adding 10 more horsepower, bringing the output to 375 horsepower and boosting torque by 50 lb.-ft., delivering a total 470 lb.-ft. of torque. The all-new 10-speed automatic, offered on 4x2 and 4x4 models, also features improved shift performance, and optimizes power and torque ranges on the engine.

With these benefits, along with others, the new engine and transmission work together to help produce an EPA-estimated 21 mpg combined, 25 highway and 18 city on 4x2 models, while 4x4 models offer 20 mpg combined, 23 highway and 16 city. The former shows a 1 mpg increase compared to last year and the latter features a 2 mpg increase, benefiting drivers.
