On Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, India Association of Phoenix will present a cultural event celebrating India’s 68th annual Independence Day. Just like last year, there will be delicious and authentic Indian food, as well as numerous dance performances, including Bollywood and traditional dances like Bharatanatyam and Kathak.
Over 40 performers will take the stage, providing entertainment from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The performances promise to be plenty of fun with colorful costumes, captivating movement and great music to back it all up. In addition, special guests will make appearances at the event, including Vijay Amritraj, who was one of India’s most famous tennis players before moving on to acting. Today, Amritraj is a sports commentator and host of a talk show called “Dimensions with Vijay Amritraj.”
Hundreds of guests attend India Nite every year and the same is expected for the India Association’s upcoming event. The family-friendly affair will take place at the Arcadia High School Auditorium on 4703 E. Indian School Rd. in Phoenix. Tickets are only $10 for guests, $7 for association members, $3 for students and free for the association’s life members.
