In an epic stunt never before conjured up by any other automaker, Ford proved that the fully redesigned 2017 Super Duty truly is built tough! With the assistance of John Brenkus, who you may know from ESPN’s “Sport Science,” Ford pulled off the dramatic stunt, which had surprising results.
The large-scale test included eight Ford F-150 trucks and an F-750 TONKA dump truck, all of which were stacked one on top of the other using a special hoisting system. The trucks were then placed directly on top of the 2017 Ford Super Duty’s all-new fully boxed frame. All together the frame had to withstand the force of 60,000 pounds. The end results were quite surprising, as the frame showed no signs of cracking or warping, which is pretty incredible. The stunt highlights the new frame’s improvements, including the fact that it’s now 24 times more rigid than the previous frame and it’s made of over 95 percent high strength steel.
The new 2017 Ford Super Duty will also be the only heavy-duty truck to use a military-grade aluminum-alloy body. In addition, the pickup gains improved engine-exhaust braking, weight-carrying hitches that enable one to tow bigger loads, Adaptive Front Steering and other new updates!
