On a hot Phoenix summer drive, wouldn't it be nice if there was always a supply of fresh drinking water beside you? If your air conditioner is running, then your car is already creating water via condensation. On especially humid days, this could amount to over half a gallon per hour!

Currently, this condensation is dumped out onto the road, but one day new Ford vehicles may be equipped with a special filter to collect and purify it into drinking water.

The "On-The-Go H2O" system, devised by Ford engineer Doug Martin, could be put to use in developing nations, and areas suffering water scarcity. It may also come in handy in areas where natural disaster has cut off running water.

The Phoenix area may be too dry to put this innovation to optimal use, but in other areas, it could be life-saving. Visit Camelback Ford to learn more about the latest technology and features being created by Ford employees.
