The Tempe History Museum is hosting a free, family-friendly program dubbed Tempe Time Machine, which celebrates summer in the Valley by giving a nod to the past. The time travel-themed program will take you and your kids back over 50 years ago, to a time when children living in Tempe spent their summers at the Legend City amusement park.

Legend City was an Old West theme park that was located on the border of Phoenix and Tempe. The park was opened in 1963, and while it eventually shut down two decades later, it’s still remembered fondly by locals who visited the park back in its glory days.

The spirit of Legend City returns during Tempe Time Machine, a summer program held by the Tempe History Museum that includes interactive exhibits, crafting and special performances. The final event concluding the series is a Kids Carnival on July 27, 2016, which you and your family won’t want to miss.

If you’re looking for a fun event that’s family-oriented, and one in which your kids will have an opportunity to learn about our community history while having fun, don’t miss the culminating Tempe Time Machine event.
