When Kars4Kids recently challenged adults to sit in a hot car for at least 10 minutes in exchange for $100, participants failed and learned a lesson about the dangers of leaving children in hot cars. Their must-see reactions are captured on film in the enclosed video.

After first entering the car, participants seem pretty comfortable, but that changes quickly. Agitated gestures, hand fanning and heavy breathing abound before one by one each participant begins to feel overwhelmed by the heat. Eventually they all press the emergency escape button and are glad to be greeted with a cold cup of water. When asked how they felt, one person said that it was the worst experience of his life, while another was surprised at how little time she’d lasted.

Although no one featured in the video won the money, they gained something more value - a life lesson. In Arizona, it’s imperative not to leave your children (or pets!) in the car. However, it’s possible for even the most caring parent to forget if a sleeping child is in the backseat. That’s why Kars4Kids offers an app for such cases, which Android users can download on the Kars4Kids website. There are other simple ways to remember that a child is in back of a car as well, such as leaving an item on the back floor or back seat, like a purse or cellphone for example.
