Ford offers the option of using technology for its vehicles in many ways. One option that you have is to start your vehicle using FordPass Connect. Fordpass Connect is a safe, secure, and easy way to sync your phone to your car so that you can access your vehicle without a key. When you pair a compatible phone with a Ford with FordPass technology, you can use your phone to open your car doors, lock the doors, start and stop your engine remotely, and much more.

Activating FordPass

To activate FordPass, you will first need to download an app to your phone called FordPass. The app is available from the App store for iPhones and from the Google Play store if you have an Android phone. Next, you'll need to create a Ford Owners account if you do not have one already. If you don't have an account, you will have to set up a login and enter some basic information. The account will then prompt you to either create a PIN for account access or set up a touch ID so that you can access your account with your fingertips.

Setting Up an Account

After setting up your login information, you'll be taken to the home page of the app, where you'll see a section called "My Vehicles." From there, select "Add Vehicle," which allows you to either scan your vehicle's VIN or enter it manually. Our staff will happily help you out if you have questions about where to find your VIN. From there, you will need to hit the "Finish" button, followed by the "Activate" button.

Along with using your smartphone, you can also activate FordPass by using the Vehicle Controls Card with the FordPass system. It's a good idea to set up this card anyways to use it as a backup if you don't have your phone with you or if you otherwise have problems with your phone and need to access your car.

SYNC Connect

If you want to access even more features with FordPass, which does more than open your vehicle, you can also download SYNC Connect onto your phone. If your car has a Wi-Fi hotspot, you can use SYNC Connect to start your vehicle with the FordPass App remotely. You can also schedule your car to start remotely when you want. SYNC Connect provides updates on your vehicle's health and performance as well.
