Ford Continues to Make Progress Towards a More Sustainable Future

Ford's sustainability work is legendary in the industry. They recently expressed that Ford's purpose "has always been bigger than building vehicles." They want to craft a "better world" in the years to come, and they're doing that now by focusing on sustainability projects.

Ford's Goal for Carbon Neutrality

Ford has set a clear timetable for carbon neutrality: 2050. By that year, Ford wants all their manufacturing facilities and supply chain to be carbon neutral. It's not just big talk, though. Ford is taking daily steps to reach this goal.

Ford thoroughly assessed its sustainability in its 2025 Integrated Sustainability and Financial Report. Ford created sustainability reports, believing that you don't reach a goal by just dreaming of it or hoping you're doing enough. Their assessment of current sustainability efforts will help them adjust their projects and be certain that they're on a path to 2050 carbon neutrality.

The report's highlights showcase impressive facts about Ford's efforts to decrease its carbon footprint and emissions; it also creates zero waste at landfill sites and adds electric/plug-in hybrid vehicles to its lineup. Ford recently shared that it has reduced its absolute global operations greenhouse gas emissions by nearly half since 2017. In the last four years, they've created 15 new electric and plug-in hybrid models that are certain to reduce Ford's carbon footprint around the globe. They now have over 80 zero-waste-to-landfill sites around the world.

Ford's charitable projects are also helping to make the world a better place. They've made serious efforts in international disaster relief and helped in the response to natural disasters like Hurricane Milton and Helene. Ford invested $9 million in West Tennessee through Ford's Good Neighbor Plan. This generous donation will help to take on the needs of the local West Tennessee community and innovate things in Detroit.

Ford is just getting started. They've ramped up efforts to give more and do more to reduce their carbon footprint in recent years, and we can expect to see the trend of progress hold strong at Ford in the coming years.
