2016 Flex Research and Review
Family car shoppers won't be disappointed with Flex. It stands out from SUV, minivan and large sedan options with its unique station-wagon-like look and utility. Complete with three spacious rows of seating and features to please everyone from moms to little ones, the 2016 Ford Flex in Phoenix is a solid choice among seven-passenger crossovers.
Available trim levels include the SE, SEL and Limited, all of which come standard with a 3.5-liter V6 capable of generating 287 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque. There's also an optional turbocharged EcoBoost V6 available on the Flex Limited that achieves an ample 365 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is optional with the standard engine and the sole drivetrain on EcoBoost-equipped models.
In the cabin, features on the SE are called plentiful by 2016 Ford Flex reviews and this is indeed the case. Amenities include keypad entry, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, rear parking sensors, the entry-level version of SYNC and Bluetooth, among many other appealing features.
If you want even more equipment, the SEL adds keyless ignition/entry, heated front seats, upgraded brakes, larger wheels, satellite radio and - new this year - the SYNC 3 system, which replaces MyFord Touch. The new infotainment unit offers great enhancements, such as updated voice recognition software that better recognizes natural speech, faster overall performance, and the ability to pinch and swipe the touchscreen, along with other notable improvements.
If you buy or lease a 2016 Ford Flex in Phoenix, you can also select the top-of-the-line Limited trim, which comes standard with the new SYNC 3 system, too. In addition, it adds luxury features such as HD radio, rain-sensing windshield wipers, xenon headlights, chrome and satin aluminum exterior trim, LED taillights and navigation.
Also notable this year, the lineup receives its first-ever Appearance Package, which amplifies the crossover's look with 20-inch rims and a black roof, grille, window sills and door handles. Along with this, there are three new paint shades for 2016 Flex buyers to choose from, including Kona Blue, Too Good to Be Blue and Shadow Black.
