Across the five trims for 2019, the Explorer may be equipped with three unique powertrains. The base option is a 3.5-liter, Ti-VCT V6 engine paired with an automatic transmission. It offers up to 290 horsepower with 255 foot-pounds of torque. A mid-level powertrain is the EcoBoost 2.3-liter engine, which gives you 280 horsepower and 310 foot-pounds of torque. This powertrain is available with an optional four-wheel drive.
The most powerful engine available for the 2019 Explorer is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine with 365 horsepower and 350 foot-pounds of torque. Other relevant standards or optional features include terrain management control, front and rear independent suspensions, hill start assist, hill descent control, electric power-assisted steering, and trailer sway control.
