In 2019, the Ford Taurus gets an impressive new look, inside and out, and more power to make it better than ever. The latest Taurus turns heads with a re-designed exterior that includes a bolder, more distinctive grille, an athletic appearance, and a wide wheelbase that gives the car more traction and stability and provides more interior space for passengers. On the outside, this year's Taurus stands out from previous model years for its clean lines, new curves, and smart accents like bolder lighting and chrome finishes. There are seven exterior paint colors to choose from, which can be paired with several interior color schemes. For its style, performance, and generous interior amenities, the 2019 Taurus takes a shot at being one of the best midsize sedans.
This year, there are four trim levels available in the Taurus. The base model is called the SE. With this car, you'll get single-zone climate control, carpeted floors in the front and back rows, and a spacious center console with storage capacity and cup holders. The doors are auto-locking for convenience, and the base model has a keyless entry. The trunk has a handy power release mechanism, and the cabin air filter system keeps air clean and circulating properly. Entertainment comes in form of the Ford SYNC system that includes an audio system and app support. There is also AM/FM radio and a CD player in this system.
Next up, the SEL adds a backup camera to the list of standard amenities. It also has optional navigation on its infotainment system. This trim level has a rear window defroster that makes wintertime driving much more pleasant. Higher-quality cloth seats are standard, and leather seats are optional. The Limited is next on the lineup. It features dual-zone climate control and a more luxurious interior with the addition of ambient lighting.
There are three grab handles for comfort, and the Limited has a push-button start. More safety features come standard in the Limited, and it also has leather seats. Last on the list is the SHO. This trim level adds aluminum pedals, a heated steering wheel, and seats that are both heated and cooled. It features distinct coloration on its instrument panel, and it comes with a variety of optional features such as a cargo organizer and a smoker's package. This trim level also has more safety features. This trim level gets the largest wheels, which come in a standard size of 20 inches.
Underneath its elegant exterior, the Ford Taurus is powered by a 3.5L, six-cylinder engine that pushes out up to 288 HP. This engine is standard on all but the highest-level trim, which is the SHO. The SHO gets a larger and more powerful 3.5L, V6 engine that produces a maximum of 365 HP. Both engines are coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. With every trim level, you have the option of getting either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, which comes in handy when you need to drive on wet or slippery roads with less than ideal traction.
Ford has traditionally been a leader in safety, and it is apparent that the Taurus have the latest in high-tech safety amenities, too. There are a number of driver-assist features to keep you and your passengers safe in the 2019 Ford Taurus. These features are either standard or available depending on the trim level that you choose. From the Limited up, standard driver aids include lane-keep assist, a safety canopy, seat belt pretensioners, and a child car seat locking system. The tires all have an individual pressure monitoring sensor to let you know which one is running low on air. In case of an accident, a post-crash alert system sends vital information about your accident if you can't.
