What's New for the 2022 Ford Escape?

The popular Ford Escape does not see too many changes in 2022. Buyers can now choose eye-catching new colors such as Iced Blue and Atlas Blue. Otherwise, the Escape continues to be the well-equipped and fun SUV that drivers know and love.

2022 Escape Trims & Features

Those shopping for a 2022 Escape have four versions of the vehicle to choose from, starting with the base S. It has an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot and a 4.2-inch central display. If shoppers go with the SE, the EScape gains an 8-inch touchscreen, plus extra tech features like satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

The SEL has many desirable features, including automatic climate control and a remote start. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are also included, and the Escape SEL even has a power liftgate. The top Titanium trim level adds a digital instrument panel and driver's seat memory settings. It also has roof rails and chrome exterior accents to show off on the outside.

2022 Ford Escape Horsepower

There is more than one engine option for the Escape in 2022. The standard is a turbo 1.5L three-cylinder, and it has the SUV creating 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. The top Titanium trim level comes standard with a hybrid that creates 200 horsepower. That engine is also available for the SE and the SEL. The SEL and Titanium are also available with a turbo 2.0L four-cylinder with an output of 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.

The gas-powered engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the hybrid comes with a CVT. Front-wheel drive is standard for the three-cylinder and hybrid engine, while all-wheel drive is available. All Escape models with the more powerful 2.0L engine have all-wheel drive.

Advanced safety features are found on every 2022 Escape. The list includes lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and forward-collision mitigation. Select models are equipped with CoPilot-360+, which adds adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and a lane-keeping system.
