In case you missed it, earlier this year, Ford announced an innovative new technology for the Fusion V6 Sport, due to launch this summer.

Potholes are jarring, often unavoidable, and can cause hundreds of dollars in damage to vehicles. AAA estimates that potholes are the cause of nearly $3 billion dollars in damages to the vehicles of American drivers every year. Ford's new continuously controlled damping technology uses onboard computers that analyze road information collected from 12 high-resolution sensors. When the system detects a pothole, the dampers are immediately adjusted to their stiffest settings, preventing the wheel from falling too far into the hole. This reduces the force of the impact, saving the car and your wallet.

“We tested and tuned this system by driving over countless potholes – subjecting Fusion V6 Sport to the brutal, square-edged potholes of our Romeo Proving Grounds to finesse the software,” said Michener. “It was long hours of not very pleasant work, but the results are well worth it.”
