Ford is in the process of developing a collection of next-generation driver-assist technologies to include in their ever-growing safety lineup. Designed to imrpove collision avoidance and contribute to stress-free driving, the new features are expected to find their way into Ford cars, trucks and SUVs within two years.

One of a few nameplates to offer state-of-the-art driver-assist technologies on the majority of their model roster, Ford continues to lead the way when it comes to creating next-gen safety features. The company aims to deliver optimum safety for drivers and passengers, and is in the works of testing this new suite of technologies to benefit Ford owners.

Cross-Traffic Alert with Braking Technology

In an effort to reduce stress on the road, this new technology works by warning drivers when objects are about to pass behind their vehicle when parking. It can also apply the brakes in order to avoid an accident.

Enhanced Active Park Assist

With a push of a button, this new feature will parallel or perpendicular park your vehicle. This is beneficial for drivers who find these types of parking maneuvers stressful to perform.

Evasive Steering Assist

This system uses radar and a camera to detect slow-moving vehicles and help drivers steer around them to avoid a possible collision. It’s designed to be used on city streets and highways.

Wrong-Way Alert

Information from the car’s navigation system and a camera are used to alert drivers in the event they are driving toward oncoming traffic.

Spot Lighting

An infrared camera is used to detect animals and pedestrians within the vicinity of the vehicle.

Advanced Front Lighting

Interprets traffic signs and then widens the headlight beam at roundabouts and intersections accordingly.

Traffic Jam Assist

A feature that assists drivers by accelerating and braking to maintain proper distance from the car in front of them and works to keep the vehicle centered in the lane.
