Ford Supports First Responders and Community During Los Angeles County Wildfires

The recent wildfires in Los Angeles, CA, had wide-ranging and devastating impacts that left many homeless and businesses destroyed. Despite all the losses suffered in the wildfires, the local community has support from the auto industry, including classic American automaker Ford Motors. Ford has announced plans to assist impacted community members and first responders as they work to recover and rebuild from the devastation.

How is Ford Helping?

Ford dealers from 13 states in the Western US and Ford Philanthropy have made donations to the California Community Foundation's Wildlife Recovery Fund. They have donated $465,000 to the fund, which provides local organizations in California with the supplies and resources necessary to help community members. The funds raised by Ford and its philanthropic branch also benefit the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. Along with supporting the broader LA community, Ford is also assisting displaced community members by offering them discounted prices on Ford vehicles and deferred payments. Ford also offers customers free electric chargers if they buy an electric vehicle. Existing Ford company employees may also take paid time off to assist with the wildfire recovery efforts.

What Organizations Does Ford Support?

Through its donations, Ford is supporting numerous organizations working in the LA area. The American Red Cross, Feeding America, World Central Kitchen, and Team Rubicon are just a few organizations that benefit from Ford's donations. Collectively, all those organizations are providing LA wildfire victims with ongoing support as they recover and rebuild following the fires. The Red Cross continues to provide shelter and essential needs to displaced victims. Team Rubicon is working to give the victims supplies on a longer-term basis while they wait to have homes rebuilt or restored. Both Feeding America and the World Central Kitchen are working to provide meals and food to affected LA community members.

Special Electric Vehicle Support

If they are located in the FEMA disaster area, owners of Ford and Lincoln vehicles are eligible for special Ford incentives. That includes reimbursement for all-electric vehicles charged at a charging station from January 7 - 31. Local Ford dealerships can also provide customers with free charging adapters if they have lost their homes or are using an electric car to assist with disaster relief. Ford is also offering free replacements for customers who lost their home charging stations in the fires.
