The standard Ford Mustang is primarily unchanged this year, carrying over several components offered on last year's model. Those who purchase the model will be able to take advantage of an array of features, including cruise control, keyless entry/ignition, heated front seats, HD radio and dual-zone automatic climate control, depending on which trim is chosen. High-quality cabin materials are also present inside the car, as well as Recaro seating on the EcoBoost Premium.
The Ford Shelby GT350 comes with many of these same features along with Brembo brakes, heavy-duty spring, suspension dampers and Track Apps to support its performance offerings. It also gets two new package options this year - Convenience and Electronics - while components offered on the previously available Track package are now standard.
Base Mustang: The base 2017 Ford Mustang in Phoenix gets a 3.7L V6, delivering 300 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque.
EcoBoost & EcoBoost Premium: Each of these models get a turbocharged 2.3L four-cylinder, generating 310 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft. of torque.
GT & GT Premium: Both trims pack a 5.0L V8, producing 435 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque.
GT350: A 5.2L V8, outputting 526 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque, is fitted on the high-performance GT350 model.
All versions of the standard Mustang are paired with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic with paddle shifters, while the GT350 only comes with a six-speed manual.
A rearview camera, stability and traction control, antilock brakes, airbags and hill-start assist are standard on the latest Mustang. On higher trims, buyers can also add on forward collision alert, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert and adaptive cruise control, which have been praised in a number of 2017 Ford Mustang reviews.
