There are many changes in 2019 for the Edge. On the outside, drivers will see a reshaped hood and a wider grille. LED headlights are now standard as well. The center console was tweaked a bit and now features a rotary-dial shifter. The infotainment system was upgraded to include the ability to support the Ford+Alexa app with a compatible smartphone. Coming standard on the 2019 Edge will also be a Wi-Fi hotspot with the ability to support up to 10 devices.
In 2019, drivers can choose from 4 different trim levels from the Edge. They are the SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST. Each of these vehicles is designed to seat five comfortably. The first three trim levels have both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive options. The top-of-the-line ST trim comes standard with all-wheel-drive.
Adaptive Cruise Control has never been better than it is in the 2019 Edge. It includes both a Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering features. This means it will not only slow down with traffic and then speed back up when it is safe, but it will also help keep your vehicle centered in its lane.
Interior features help make the new Edge both convenient and fun. The available wireless charging pad can keep compatible smartphones going. Steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters help keep your drive interesting. Drivers can also enjoy the B&O Premium Sound System that features 12 speakers and can disperse the sound evenly in the front and back.
Each trim of the Edge can take advantage of the FordPass Connect with the Wi-Fi Hotspot feature. The FordPass Connect app can accomplish a long list of things, including locking, unlocking, and starting the car remotely. It can also be used to compare fuel prices at nearby gas stations and schedule and pay for service.
There are two engines available for the 2019 Edge. The 2.0-liter I-4 engine carries over from last year but now generates five more horsepower, bringing the total up to 250. This engine is now paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission w/OD. Models with all-wheel-drive also have auto-manual transmissions. This is the standard engine on the SE, SEL, and Titanium trims. With this setup, drivers can expect an EPA estimated 25 MPG combined on front-wheel-drive models and 23 MPG on all-wheel-drive ones.
For the ST trim, drivers get a 335-hp, 2.7-liter V-6 engine. This engine is also paired with an 8-speed automatic w/OD and auto-manual transmission. Drivers of the ST can expect an EPA estimate of 21 MPG combined
Many advanced safety features will come standard in 2019 for the Edge. Drivers get automatic high beams, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, and lane-keep assist. An available option will be the Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert. This feature is designed to help make changing lanes and backing out of a spot easier by alerting you to obstacles in your blind spots. One exciting safety feature available in 2019 is Evasive Steering Assist. This is designed to help you avoid a potential collision by making it easier to steer around the obstacle.
