Ford & SK On to Solidify Leadership in the Global Electric Vehicle Market Through BlueOval SK

With the most technologically advanced and most effective car production complex in its 118-year history, Ford will provide electrified zero-emission automobiles to American consumers on a significant scale. The BlueOval City complex will be built in west Tennessee. It has a nearly 6-square-mile location that will produce sophisticated batteries and the next generation of electric F-Series pickup trucks. Additionally, a new BlueOval SK Battery Park with twin battery facilities will be constructed in central Kentucky to power a new range of Ford and Lincoln EVs. Nearly 6,000 of the 11,000 new jobs that Ford and SK Innovation aim to generate will be in Stanton, Tennessee, and 5,000 will be in Glendale, Kentucky. Production of new electric vehicles and sophisticated lithium-ion batteries will start in 2025.

The Big Announcement

The next generation of electric F-Series trucks and the batteries that will power future electric Ford and Lincoln automobiles will be produced at two new enormous, technologically advanced campuses in Tennessee and Kentucky, according to plans announced by Ford Motor Company.

Ford and its partner, SK Innovation, intend to invest $11.4 billion and create nearly 11,000 new jobs at the Tennessee and Kentucky mega-sites, strengthening local economies and bolstering Ford's position as the country's top employer of hourly auto workers. It will be the most significant U.S. investment in electric vehicles ever made by any automotive manufacturer.

BlueOval City, a brand-new $5.6 billion mega-campus in Stanton, Tennessee, will rethink how cars and batteries are made and add about 6,000 new employees.

BlueOval City, which will house a BlueOval SK battery production, important suppliers, and recycling, will develop into a vertically integrated ecosystem for Ford to manufacture an expanded array of electric F-Series cars. Once fully operating, Ford's new Tennessee manufacturing line is intended to produce zero trash for landfills and be carbon neutral.

Ford will partner with SK Innovation to construct the $5.8 billion BlueOval SK Battery Park in central Kentucky, which will house a specialized battery production facility and generate 5,000 employees. Two battery facilities are planned for the location that will provide locally-made batteries to Ford's North American assembly plants. Subject to final agreements, regulatory permissions, and other requirements BlueOval SK is subject to final agreements, regulatory permissions, and other requirements. They will make investments in the new battery factories in Tennessee and Kentucky.
